155 Bak Kut Teh 肉骨茶 in Klang
[Non-halal] A few weeks back, our craving for good Bak Kut Teh (BKT) 肉骨茶 led us to 155 Bak Kut Teh in Pandamaran, Klang.
While Jalan Chan Ah Choo in Pandamaran is known for the number of famous Klang BKT shops (e.g. 158 Bak Kut Teh, Samy Bak Kut Teh) located on the same street, we decided to check our 155 Bak Kut Teh 肉骨茶 located nearby.
While not as famous as its counterparts, the BKT here did hit the spot for us.

155 Bak Kut Teh is located in a house on Lorong Jering in Pandamaran. The restaurant is not too far from Jalan Chan Ah Choo and we liked that there were plenty of car park spots when we arrived for lunch at noon.
Compared to the other famous ones, we find that 155 Bak Kut Teh is mainly patronized by locals.
The BKT here are usually served in claypots but you can also opt for individual bowls, which is how BKT is traditionally served in Klang.
We usually only order BKT soup but since we were here for the first time – we decided to try the dry BKT as well.
BKT is rich in herbal taste
We ordered the soup BKT (RM18 per portion) with our preferred cuts of yin kuat (soft ribs) and pun fei sau (half-fatty-half-lean meat).
While the BKT was already stewed for hours in a big pot in the middle of the restaurant, the lady boss would scoop our ordered cuts and recook them in individual claypots upon order.
Our claypot order comes with lettuce, tofu puffs, and beancurd sheet for a wholesome dish.
While the cut served was slightly too fatty to our liking, we still found the meat to be tender and tasty- having absorbed all the flavours from the herbs for hours.
We also found the soup to be delicious. It was rich in herbal taste but not too fatty (like the ones served at Weng Heong) nor too thick like gravy (see: Ah Her BKT).
In other words, we found the BKT broth here to be quite balanced.
Dry BKT is very delicious
Although we don’t eat dry BKT often, we must say that the Dry BKT (RM19) here is excellent!
Just like the soup version, the meat is utterly tender. The fattier cut here is especially appreciated as it has a nice collagen-like texture that’s richly flavoured by the gravy.
The thick soy sauce-based gravy is very fragrant with plenty umami bite from dried cuttlefish, dried chillies, and okra.
Summary
Overall, we were quite pleased with our meal here. While the cuts were not as good as the ones at Weng Heong, they were really tender and flavourful. The dry BKT here is quite good too.
The onion rice was a bit too plain-tasting for us – but it was good enough to soak the delicious broth.
155 BKT is definitely a good option if you’re looking for day-time BKT in Pandamaran without the need to fight for tables at the more popular establishments.
