[Halal] Here’s our favourite cookies! #notsponsored
Every year without fail, we would order these lovely Afghan cookies from The Cake Time Story for Raya (and sometimes for CNY too). This year, the cookies were sold out within three hours! We were thrilled we managed to secure the last few containers.
We first tasted these delicious morsels four years ago when it was gifted to a dear friend for Christmas. She passed us some to try as she knew we were looking for favors for our wedding.
One bite and we fell in love. So, we ordered them as door gifts for our big day (it was a big hit with our guests), and have been ordering regularly from homebaker Fiza (owner of The Cake Times Story) ever since.
You know it’s good when Max – who’s not really a fan of cookies – devours a large number in one sitting.
A traditional NZ recipe, Afghan cookies are made with flour, butter, cornflakes, sugar, and cocoa powder. Instead of chocolate icing, Fiza uses Nutella as the base for the half pecans to sit on.
What we love about these Afghan cookies (RM35 for a 350g container) is that they have a crunchy texture (thanks to the cornflakes) which is never crumbly. It is also not very sweet, and never too buttery.
The Nutella provides a very subtle hint of hazelnut to the biscuit. Also, the pecans are always crunchy too!
Yes – they’re the most perfect cookies ever! We are also happy to report that the quality has remained consistent after so many years.
Orders for Raya have closed – but Fiza will be taking new orders from May 24th onwards. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
