Ah Her Bak Kut Teh in Pandamaran Klang
[Non-halal] Ah Her Bak Kut Teh is one of the more popular spots for BKT in Klang.
Ah Her began as a stall operating along Jalan Besar located in the heart of Pandamaran, Klang.
The stall had since moved into its own shop and opened a few more branches in Klang and Setia Alam. In fact, we’ve eaten at their Setia Alam branch a few years ago (see our post here).
Ah Her Bak Kut Teh in Pandamaran
Ah Her has been serving bowls of Klang-style BKT since 1994.
Compared to other BKT spots we’ve eaten in Klang (see recommendations at the end of this article), Ah Her does not serve their portion in claypots.
Instead, the pork here are served in individual bowls with limited amount of soup.
In fact, there is no option for soup top-ups here (much to the chagrin of some customers) as the pork are boiled for hours with the soup reducing to a gravy-like thickness. Hence, there is only enough soup for each serving of meat.
They also do not serve ancillary items such as youtiao and mushrooms here.
Thick and intense gravy
Just like the one we had at the Setia Alam branch, the soup here is thick and intense and almost gravy-like.
It has quite a robust herbal taste with a layer of oil on top.
We ordered a serving of pork leg and pork belly each (RM16 per bowl irregardless of cut). The pork leg is fatty with lots of collagen, and the pork belly has a good ratio of fat and lean meat.
Nothing special about the rice though.
Summary
Overall, we thought Ah Her BKT is decent but it’s not at the top of the chain in our Klang BKT tier list.
It might please some – but we are unlikely to return.
