[Pork-free] I tak auta, cubalah ALTA! Go for a culinary adventure at ALTA Cafe in Bangsar, inspired by cafe culture in Paris and Copenhagen, with art deco posters adorning the walls.
It’s more than just a pretty face – as food is competently designed and prepared by the kitchen.
[Jan 2022 Update: We visited ALTA for their dinner service. See the post here]
Mafalda
Tagliatelle
Pasta at Alta Cafe
We recommend the Mafalda (RM30) – al-dente ribbon-shaped pasta tossed with olive oil and topped with parmesan and delicate shiitake slices. It’s light, slightly creamy with lovely accents from the shrooms. We like!
The Tagliatelle (RM30), however felt undercooked although the earthy flavours was very comforting thanks to the brown butter, sage, hazelnut and egg yolk.
Sourdough tartine with sausage, eggs and salsa verde
Sourdough Tartine at Alta Cafe
Sourdough here is thick, perfectly toasted and served as a Tartine. For a fuller meal, I opted for the one topped with beef sausage, eggs, and salsa verde (RM36) – all components were executed well, especially the creamy and well-seasoned eggs.
Spanish tuna Provencal croissant Granola bowl
Croissant and granola
For a less zesty meal – my friend recommended her Spanish Tuna Provencal croissant (RM21) topped with crunchy pea sprouts(!) and pickled mustard seeds(!).
The Granola Bowl (R28) is aptly put-together with overnight oats, yoghurt, raw honey, cocoa nibs and berries.
Coffee’s done well with their own beans. We really enjoyed the food here and the quiet ambiance.
