Q: What does an effective ballad and a good bao have in common?
A: A substantial amount of filling! #punbuns
We were at MidValley Mall over the weekend and stumbled upon B.O.D (Baos on Demand). We saw a queue – so naturally, we FOMO-ed. We bought the KongFu Bao (RM15.90 for six) and Mini Char Siu Bao (RM4.75 for three).
Although small in size, the filling was substantial vs. the regular sized ones you get at your kopitiams. You know right – sometimes the baos are huge, but it’s mostly air inside (#airheadbao), or there’s too much flour (#flourbao).
KongFu bao
Anyways, we enjoyed the KongFu Bao – which is essentially a fancy name for sang yuk bao (#undercoverbao). Meat was tender and flavourful and they managed to squeeze part of a boiled egg inside. Wah, not bad ah.
The mini char siu bao, although smaller in size to the KongFu Bao (duh), is also quite yummy and packed with filling. I like that there is a bit more lean meat (vs. fat for some baos #fatheadbao).
Besides baos, there is a bao-untiful of other choices like BaoZhan rice dumpling, lo mai kan, siu mai, and lava bun. But we were too “pau” already to eat more baos. Also, there is no seating offered here – all food are for ta-bao only. #endoffoodpuns
Baos for tabao… Tiny in size…
