Best char siew in PJ?
[Non-halal] Looking for the best char siew in PJ?
Here’s one of our go-to spots for char siew in PJ! In fact, we have regularly ordered from TnR by Sean & Angie ever since MCO started last year.
We love the char siew here because they are always nicely charred with lovely caramelisation. Just look at the beautiful glaze!
Lovely fat and meat ratio
We also like that they use pork shoulders (based on our judgment), which has a nice 50:50 meat-to-fat ratio. This compares to pork belly, which can get a bit too greasy to our liking. Nevertheless, the fat here is always melt-in-your-mouth, with flesh that is consistently tender.
Hakka Noodles topped with char siew
Have it with Hakka noodles
Our order this round was their Hakka Noodles topped with char siew (RM10) and Chicken Rice with two types of roasted meat (RM11.90).
The Hakka noodles here is pretty yummy – springy, and not too dry. It is well-seasoned and topped with minced meat, fried fish skin and scallion.
While we wouldn’t call their roast chicken and siew yoke spectacular (vs. their char siew) – they are sufficiently tender. Moreover, TnR is always generous with the portion.
Chicken rice with two combination (we added the siew yoke here from another order for illustration purposes)
We also like how they always provide enough sauces (soy sauce, char siew sauce, and sweet chilli) to go with the meat.
Fried Sui Kow
We also tried their Fried Sui Kow (RM7 for 3 pieces) – but this was only ok-ok in our books and a bit pricey.
So, where is your favorite spot for char siew?
