[Pork-free] ¡Hola!
A couple of months ago, we checked out Char Line asado + bar for some Uruguay-inspired fire-wood grilled goodness. We really enjoyed the food.
We opted for a table at the al-fresco seating area, which sets the mood for a romantic evening with the use of fairy lights. It was also a private setting with thick foliage shielding us from the sidewalk and traffic outside.
Char Line’s métier is fresh produce cooked over a wood-fired grill – everything from corn, zucchini to red snapper, bone marrow and wagyu tomahawk.
Grilled corn
We started with Grilled Corn (RM33) topped with crispy chicken lard and chive creme fraiche. We loved it! The grilled corn was buttery with a nice hint of smokiness. The chicken lard provides a nice crunch. It was so good that Ming polished off more than half of this dish, despite her not liking corn.
Grilled leek
The Grilled Leek (RM25) was also crunchy and crisp, with a side of sea salt to dip. All greens are sourced from organic farms in Cameron Highlands.
Grilled snapper
The Grilled Red Snapper (RM52) was perfectly grilled with crispy, charred skin and juicy flesh. The chimichurri sauce was the perfect companion, with spice and tang coming from the garlic and vinegar.
Wagyu rump
Our 250g Sher Wagyu Rump (RM135) grilled medium rare was alright. As it comes unseasoned, the accompanying grilled bone marrow jus is a delight – thick, creamy and sweet with lovely bone essence.
