[Pork-free, Muslim-friendly] We returned to Charlie’s Cafe to try their popular chicken chop.
This time, we brought our colleagues to try their Laksa Sarawak as well. (Check out our first visit in this post).
First – the Chicken Chop! For RM19.90, you’ll get a quarter chicken cooked in batter and served with coleslaw, salad and mashed potatoes. It definitely looks bigger than your regular chicken chops out there. Despite its size, the chicken was cooked thoroughly.
Although the chicken was deep-fried, it wasn’t greasy at all. The batter remained crispy, with a moist and juicy centre. The mushroom gravy on the side was a worthy companion!
Huge tiger prawn for dine-in on a limited basis Laksa Sarawak
During our first visit, we absolutely enjoyed the Laksa Sarawak (RM13.90) and Laksa Malaysia (RM14.90). Both came with huge tiger prawns – a special upgrade for dine-in customers on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Our colleagues approved! They enjoyed the robust broth that’s rich with spices, the lovely sambal and of course, the fresh tiger prawn!
UFO tart and French butter cake
We finished our lunch with the UFO Tart 🛸 (RM3) – a specialty from the owner’s hometown in Sandakan, and a slice of French Butter Cake (RM5) – a favourite of ours as it is made with genuine French butter. The butter cake was ever moist and buttery, as it should be.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for their laksa, chicken chop and homely baked goods! 😋😋😋
By the way, dine-in hours are 11am-4pm Mon-Sat, while their delivery and takeaway times are from 11am-7.30pm. Order via their website here.
