[Dec 2022 UPDATE: Congkak KL was added as a Bib Gourmand restaurant to the 2023 Michelin Guide KL and Penang list. Check out our Michelin post here]
[Halal] Main congkak, makan kenyang! We checked out Congkak KL for some Nusantara food!
Congkak KL – a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant
The main star here is the Nasi Ambeng. We opted for the RM180 platter (to feed 4-6 pax) which comes standard with rice, crackers, ikan masin, salted egg, acar rampai, sambal jawa, begedil daging, sambal terung, sambal belacan, serunding kelapa and tauhu goreng berlado.
Included in the set is three choices of the following dishes: gulai ayam, daging masak kicap, ayam goreng berlado, ikan goreng sambal tumis, gulai daging, and ikan goreng berlado.
We opted for the first three.
No complaints! The portion was enough to feed the seven of us and every component was yummy! My favourites have to be the Daging Masak Kicap and Ikan Goreng Sambal Tumis.
Congkak KL – Nasi Ambeng and more
We also enjoyed their Tauhu Telur (RM25) – love the crispy texture and the rojak-ish sauce.
Other signatures include Rendang Tok, Oxtail Masak Palembang, Rusuk Panggang Masak Hitam, and Udang Galah Masak Lemak. I really want to come back to try their Ikan Wayang.
We really enjoyed the food here with its decor that evokes kampung feels and lagu P. Ramlee yang berkumandang. It’s really comfortable and good for corporate lunches too.
