Copper Grillhouse in TTDI
[Pork-free] Copper Grillhouse in TTDI is a new spot for good Northern Indian cuisine.
Hailing from Mumbai, Cooper Grillhouse occupies two floors with a comfortable space that’s also sustainable for events and business meetings.
We brought our mom here for Mother’s Day, and we really enjoyed the food here!
Copper Grillhouse in TTDI
Newly-opened in TTDI, Copper Grillhouse has a strong tradition Indian cooking for almost over 50 years. The restaurant is a branch of the popular Copper Chimney restaurant in India, which was founded by MR J.K. Kapur.
As the name implies, Copper Grillhouse specialises in grilled meat that’s marinated over 24 hours ,and bread that’s cooked fresh in the tandoors. Copper Grillhouse is also known for its Roomali Roti, a handkerchief-thin bread that is hand-tossed and toasted on an inverted iron ‘tawa’.
See video above for some cooking action.
Occupying two floors, the space here is very comfortable for family meals, as well as business meetings. Copper Grillhouse also offers private dining space suitable for events, with a banquet area able to accommodate up to 100 guests.
The service here is excellent, and was a highlight of our meal here.
Kadak Roomali
We started our lunch with the singarue Kadak Roomali (RM18) – a crisp handkerchief-thin bread seasoned with spices, and served with a trio of mango, spicy peanut, and mint chutneys.
Our first roomali was served a bit cold, but the waiter was very obliging to replace the bread.
The replacement turned out to be quite decent as the inside parts of the roomali was very crispy and nicely seasoned with spices.
The roti is also quite large in size (see Max’s hand for comparison in photo) but due to its thin nature – it’s quite easy to devour completely. We really enjoyed all the three chutneys – with their own distinctive flavours that paired well with the roti.
Chutney Fish Tikka
Customers on Google reviews seem to rave about the Chutney Fish Tikka (RM39) here. We understand why and it was our favourite dish of the meal as well.
Marinated for hours in Copper’s green and lemon chutney, the fish was incredibly flavourful but retained its juicy and firm texture for an incredible bite. This went very well with the bread.
Lasooni Corn Palak
Fresh spinach curries (e.g. palak dhal, palak paneer) are one of our favourite dishes – so we were intrigued by the Lasooni Corn Palak (RM28).
This turned out to be quite yummy as the freshness and crunchiness of the corn really paired well with the mushy spinach that’s seasoned with cumin and roasted garlic.
This curry went well with our order of Garlic Naan (RM12).
Gosht Dum Biryani
Copper Grillhouse also does excellent rice dishes – as exemplified by its Gosht Dum Biryani (RM52).
Cooked in a pot sealed with bread, the saffron rice is incredibly fluffy and moist. The garam masala-marinated lamb pieces were also tender.
Summary
This restaurant was recommended by a colleague, and we can definitely understand the appeal. Both the service and food were excellent, and we found the space very comfortable. We’ll be back!
