Farlim Shell Station Laksa Cafe
[Muslim-owned] The Farlim Shell Station Laksa Cafe is a local favourite spot for Asam Laksa.
As you can guess, the stall sells Asam Laksa and despite its name, is located in a proper kopitiam.

The stall is operated by two young Muslim chaps and shares the restaurant with a bak kwa stall.
We arrived here just as it opened for business at 11am and there was already a queue of orders for tapau.
The space here is clean and bright – and we loved seeing the two cauldrons of laksa broth boiling away.
There are also plenty of fresh ikan kembung and prawns (which you can add to the laksa bowl) on display, so it’s obvious that they use the freshest seafood here.
Good asam laksa
For RM6, the bowl of Asam Laksa comes topped with a generous amount of bunga kantan, onions, he ko (black prawn paste), and two big chunks of ikan kembung.
So was it nice? Yes – we liked the robust broth with a good balance of tanginess and savouriness, and a slight hint of sweetness. The generous amount of bunga kantan really added to the fragrance.
We also ordered a piece of Goreng Popiah (RM1.20) which was quite decent. The skin was crispy, not too greasy, with a good amount of radish filling.
However, we thought the Cendol here was just alright.
