[Halal] We checked out Go’Bang Maju (GM) for ikan patin masak tempoyak in Wangsa Maju. Turns out, GM is a branch of a popular ikan tempoyak restaurant in Temerloh.
Ikan patin tempoyak
We opted for seketul badan Ikan Patin Tempoyak (RM15 for ikan sangkar) to share. While the tempoyak had enough durian taste, it was on the sweeter side and a bit cair (diluted). The fish, though, was fresh and tak hanyir (did not have fishy taste).
The Claypot Ikan Asam Pedas (RM15) is made to order and you could choose your preferred fish.

Our ikan pari (sting ray) was superbly fresh – flesh was tender and not overcooked. However, we thought it needed more tamarind as the gravy was on the spicier side with not enough sour notes. Kurang asam, like literally!
It was my first time trying out Siput Sedut Masak Lemak (RM7). My friend taught me the trick to eating it: sedut belakang dulu, reposition the meat, and then sedut depan! (Eh, lain macam je bunyi!)
The mollusks were nice and chewy – but again, we thought the gravy was a bit diluted.

Overall, we still prefer House of Patin (see our review here) for the thicker and flavourful tempoyak (especially ikan patin pais).
Tapi boleh cubalah kat sini if you are in the area and craving for tempoyak.
