[Pork-free, alcohol served] In the future, we don’t need roads (and floppy disks)!
Happy Landfill in Kota Damansara is a quirky 90s-theme cafe/bar.
If you were born before the millennium, you’ll instantly recognize some of these artifacts(!) and gadgets that are now deemed redundant in the 2020s.
Happy Landfill in Kota Damansara
Having grown up with some of the gadgets from our younger days – we were really tickled by some of the gadgets we found here, like the indestructible Nokia 3310, and VHS cassette tapes (ciplak ones that used to sell for RM10 – before VCDs were a thing).
Happy Landfill uses office tables (with steel drawers, CRT monitors, and old keyboards) as the main serving tables here.
If you’re lucky, you’ll end up seating at the ones with working PS1 (we spotted Tekken on the screen) and NES game consoles. There is also a desktop with the good ol’ Windows 98 installed, with Minesweeper and Solitaire ready for “weekend office workers” to engage with.
Beers, coffee, and cocktails
Happy Landfill offers a great selection of craft beers, wine, and coffee. They also serve pastries such as Apple Strudel and Tuna Puff – but fuller meals (e.g burgers) can also be enjoyed at the equally eclectic-looking Homesick Alien Cafe just next door.
Our Iced Long Black was decent, but the D&D (RM25) was the real surprise!
Made with Grapefruit Soju as the base, the concoction was super refreshing with lovely acidity and mild bitterness from the grapefruit juice, and accents from the white dragon puree and elderflower!
Happy Landfill is worth a visit for its eclectic 90s-theme decor, but you might actually find yourself enjoying the cocktails as well.
