[Muslim-friendly] Here’s our second post on Forest Cloud Beverage Company, Penang featuring the homebrew coffee beans.
After enjoying their coffee in-house, we bought home their drip bag bundle and the single-origin La Cabana beans for our homebrew.

Homebrew coffee from Forest Cloud in Penang
If you read our previous post, you’d know that Forest Cloud was one of our favorite café discoveries from our recent Penang trip.
We really enjoyed the space as well as the many products sold at the premise for our homebrew.
Forest Cloud is after all more than just a café. It houses a roaster at the back of the building and offers its own roasted coffee beans from espresso blends to single origins.
It also sells coffee equipment, cocoa powder as well as matcha.

We loved the cafe so much that we returned twice to try out their Flight coffee tasting platter, V60 Bale Mountain Ethiopian beans, and Hojicha drinks.

Drip bag bundle for homebrew
For our homebrew, we purchased their Drip Bag Bundle (currently 13% discounted to RM95) – which comprises 10 coffee drip bags and a drip kettle.
Drip kettle
To be honest, we were really enticed by their drip kettle due to its simple and clean design.
After two years of doing French press at home, we recently started brewing V60 coffee – hence, we were on the lookout for a good drip kettle.
Lovely packaging
First, we love the packaging it came in.
All of the contents were packed in a cardboard box similar to a sneaker box. We enjoyed the creative copywriting and love that the box looks great as a gift to friends and family.
10 coffee drip bags in a larger bag 
Inside, the 10 coffee drip bags were individually sealed and packed in a large resealable bag, with a card to describe the history and tasting notes of our beans.
The stainless steel kettle had a simple and polished design, and worked as well as it should.
Signature Lunarfall houseblend
The bundle set contains 10 bags of freshly ground Lunarfall house blend coffee beans.
We found this most curious, as the Lunarfall medium-dark blend – being a combination of Brazilian and Colombian beans – was intended for espressos.
Hence, the coffee was actually quite earthy and full-bodied after brewing.
We prefer coffee that are more acidic – hence this is not our favourite. However, we suppose this is a good gateway coffee for newcomers who don’t enjoy ‘sour’ coffee.
Nevertheless, the coffee improved with a touch of almond milk – as we could taste a bit of nuttiness with light caramel hints
Excellent Danilo Perez La Cabana beans
We very much preferred and enjoyed the Danilo Perez La Cabana beans (RM45 for 100g).
Brewed the V60 way with Forest Cloud’s easy instructions, the coffee was superb with wine-like acidity with blueberries and cherries sweetness. The fruit-like tannins were lovely on the palate.
The notes were slightly milder when we brewed it with French press – but we surmise the intensity very much depends on the technique and coffee:water ratio.
We definitely recommend the V60 method to enjoy the full extent of the varietal’s nuances.
Summary
We were most pleased with the coffee beans and drip kettle.
They also make perfect gifts for those who enjoy coffee and home-brewing.
