Jeff Lee Kitchen in Sg Buloh

[Non-halal] Jeff Lee Kitchen is one of the more popular restaurants in Sg Buloh.

This Chinese dai chow restaurant is usually packed on the weekends, and is known for its pipa duck, pork porridge, and Iberico pork ribs.

As we live reasonably close by, we visited Jeff Lee Kitchen for dinner twice on weekdays to avoid the weekend crowd.

Even then, some of the popular dishes were already sold out – including the pork porridge and Iberico ribs.

Nevertheless, we did enjoy most of the dishes we tried here.

Egg Noodles with Minced Pork

The Egg Noodles with Minced Pork is essentially wanton noodles cooked with soy sauce-based gravy and topped with lots of minced pork and crispy pork lard.

We enjoyed this as the noodles had a nice QQ bouncy texture, and the dish wasn’t dry due to the generous amount of gravy.

Cantonese Noodles

The Cantonese Hor Fun was executed well as it had the requisite wok hei, flavourful gravy and we liked the addition of pork liver here.

Dark Sauce Fried Pork Belly

The Dark Sauce Fried Pork Belly is a popular order here and we can see why.

Thin pork belly slices are fried in dark soy sauce to yield a lovely caramelised coat with a nice sweet-savoury kick.

This is a dish that goes superbly well with a bowl of white rice.

Roasted Pipa Duck

The Roasted Pipa Duck is another recommended dish but we thought it was just ok, as it was a bit dry for us.

Nevertheless, we commend the chef for the crispy skin, and the duck was best enjoyed with the thick five-spice gravy and sweet plum sauce.

Tofu and Veggies

The Loofah Tofu dish was also decent but we wished it had more tofu pieces instead.

We liked the Spinach in Superior Soup here as the portion was really generous for the price. More importantly, the soup was flavourful due to the addition of century eggs and big dried anchovies.

No complaints about the regular Garlic Stir-Fry Spinach here.

Summary

We can understand why Jee Lee Kitchen is quite popular in the area as most of the dishes we tried here were good.

However, be prepared to wait for a table on the weekends.
