[Pork-free] There’s a new spot for bingsu in town – and it’s Jeju Bingsu.
Owned and operated by a Korean couple, this newly opened spot in Solaris Mont Kiara aims to showcase the best shaved ice desserts from the Korean island in the heart of KL.
Jeju Bingsu in Solaris Mont Kiara

Jeju Bingsu only uses fresh fruits, milk, and sweet red beans for its desserts.
The menu includes Mango Bingsu, Red Bean Bingsu, Oreo Bingsu, Shine Muscat Bingsu and Milk Tea Bingsu.
Aside from the desserts, Jeju Bingsu also offers fish buns (aka Bungeo-ppang 붕어빵) – which are traditional gluten-free snacks stuffed with red beans, corn cheese or pizza.

There are fruit smoothies, waffles, cookies and coffee served here.
Red Bean Bingsu

If you follow us long enough, you’d know that our favourite type of bingsu is the classic Injeolmi Red Bean Bingsu.
And the one here did not disappoint.
For RM38, the medium-sized bingsu wss more than enough to feed both of us.

The bingsu here is served in a pot that looks similar to Thai hot pot, with the middle hole used to place dry ice.
Spectacles aside, the portion here is really good for the price. The cafe was really generous with the toppings of red beans, roasted soybean powder, and injeolmi (Korean rice cakes).

We also liked that they gave a few pieces of yakgwa – traditional Korean honey cookies – on the side.

The shaved ice has the requisite snowy soft texture. The sweet bean paste wasn’t too sweet with a good variety of textures but the injeolmi here was the softest we’ve eaten in Kl (and even Korea). In fact, it reminded us of the best mua chee in KL.
Summary
The service here is excellent, we like the little touches of Bungeo-Ppang pillows and the famous Jeju stone statues being served alongside our desserts.
We’ll return to try the remaining bingsu and offerings.
