[Pork-free] Occupying a bungalow lot, Kalico is the newest cafe on this side of Lake Titiwangsa.

The old building has been given a breath of new life – with red and green terrazzo tiles polished to the nines, and an old cupboard given a fresh coat of paint.

The cafe is spacious. The counter is its centrepiece – built with cement ventilation blocks which showcase a geometric design that evokes memories of homes built in the 50s and 60s.

As we had a hearty lunch nearby, we settled for coffee and desserts here. They do serve meals such as Nasi Lemak and sandwiches.

Compared to some cafes, the desserts are reasonably priced. Among the trio of desserts we ordered, the Fudgy Brownie (RM9) was the most outstanding.

It was perfectly moist, dense and slightly gooey – exactly as the name implies. We loved that it was served slightly warm. Compliments to the baker!

The Matcha Cronut (RM7) and Choc Chip Marshmallow Cookie (RM5) were alright in our books.
