Kedai Kopi Yun Kei PJ

[Non-halal] Here’s our second entry to the TKM Chicken Rice Series, where we explore our favourite chicken rice shops in the Klang Valley.

There’s a number of favourite chicken rice spots in Section 17 PJ. The list includes Ban Huat Heng, which we covered in the past (see post here).

Kedai Kopi Yun Kei

Kedai Kopi Yun Kei is one of our favourite spots for a fuss-free and easy lunch. This kopitiam is located on the same row as Wong Kee Chicken Rice, which is known for its crispy roast chicken skin and long queue.

However, we’ve always preferred the one here at Kedai Kopi Yun Kei.

And here’s the reasons why:

1. Crispy chicken skin is not high on our priority. As our favourite cut is breast meat, we find the chicken here to be more tender than Wong Kee’s.

2. The siew yoke here meets our requirements. It’s tender, not too fatty with enough cracklin’ skin.

3. Add the braised egg for extra protein.

4. The plate comes with additional taugeh and lots of parsley.

5. Free refillable Chinese herbal soup!

They also serve curry mee here with siew yoke. For dinner, there’s a stall that takes over serving good steamed fish and dishes as well.
