Available for dine-in on 24-25 December 2024, Maria’s Steakcafe has curated a special course menu featuring quality steak, lobster thermidor, beef wellington and roast turkey.

We had the pleasure of checking out their outlet at 1Powerhouse, Bandar Utama, which offers a lovely view of Petaling Jaya at night.

Christmas menu at Maria’s Steakcafe

While the Christmas sets are only available during this festive season, the main dishes can be found on the main menu all year round.

The special Christmas menu features a starter, soup and dessert.

Starting off with Duck Breast

We started our dinner with the lovely French Duck Breast with Orange Sauce.

Cooked medium rare, the duck was tender and adequately seasoned with salt and pepper. The savoury duck was then paired with roasted carrot puree (earthy flavours), and honey orange gastrique which provides a nice acidity to the dish.

We also enjoyed the Fresh Tomato Pumpkin Soup. We thought the tomatoes added a nice tang to the soup, and helped to cut through the earthiness of the pumpkin.

Angus Beef Wellington with Foie Gras

Maria’s Steakcafe offers two options of Angus Beef Wellington all year round, but the one on the Christmas menu features the one with foie gras (RM335).

The Beef Wellington features Angus beef short ribs wrapped in truffle mushroom duxelles, foie gras and butter puff pastry.

This was as good as it looked. Slow-cooked for 48 hours, the beef was tender and flavourful with accents from the foie gras and mushroom duxelles.

The puff pastry was also adequately flaky.

Lamb Cutlets and Atlantic Cod

We also loved the New Zealand Lamb Cutlets (RM175).

The grilled lamb cutlets were tender and flavoursome, and paired exceptionally well with the accompanying mint sauce.

Non-red meat eaters will be pleased to find fish on the menu – and the Atlantic White Cod (RM195) met expectations with its perfectly seared flesh while retaining the lovely sweetness of cod.

Australian Wagyu MB7 Ribeye

Steak continues to be Maria’s forte, and the Australian Wagyu MB7 Ribeye (RM148/100g) did not disappoint.

Cooked medium rare, the steak had a perfect sear but still retained suppleness.

While the steak came with mustard, the meat truly did not need it as it was flavourful and juicy on its own. The caramelised onion garnish remained a nice touch.

Cranberry Prune Pudding

The meal ended with the Cranberry Prune Pudding, which reminded us more of a cupcake despite the name.

The cake was nice and soft, with berries providing a sweet end to our meal.

Summary

All in, we enjoyed our Christmas meal here.

We recommend making reservations and bookings as Maria’s Steakcafe is popular on weekends and special occasion. There is also a Christmas delivery menu until 1st Jan.
