New Little Korea Restaurant 뉴리틀코리아
[Non-halal] New Little Korea Restaurant 말레이시아 is a favourite recent discovery.
Our friend had recommended this spot to us – and we enjoyed the selection of K-BBQ and pork bone hangover soup (haejangguk 뼈다귀 해장국) here.
New Little Korea Restaurant in Mont Kiara

New Little Korea Restaurant occupies a few shop-lots on the third floor in Solaris Mont Kiara.
While this restaurant had been operating for years, it appears that it had a change in ownership recently with the addition of “New” to the previous name.

It recently had a grand opening in May, and the space here looks clean and new – which suggested renovation works.
The new boss was super kind and friendly. He made sure to check on every customer that was dining that day, and even made recommendations to us. Needless to say – the service here was more than satisfactory.
New Little Korea

New Little Korea Restaurant offers chicken, pork and beef for BBQ, but you can also find the usual stew such as kimchi jjigae, sundubu jjigae and galbi tang.

Offerings here that caught our eyes include Bori Gulbi Jeongsik 보리굴비정식 (Dried Yellow Corvina Set Menu), Hwanggi Baeksuk (a big version of Samgyetang) and Doenjang Flower Crab Stew (된장 우거지 꽃게 전골).
Since it was our first time, we decided to order Fresh Pork Belly (RM38) and Marinated Spare Ribs (RM43) – which are our two favourite cuts for K-BBQ.
Delicious banchan

But let us start with the banchan (side dishes) first. The kimchi here was fresh, crunchy and delicious.
Other standouts include the potato salad and blanched spinach.

New Little Korea also offered a complimentary pot of volcano egg. We usually find this dish to be “meh”, but the one here was actually well-seasoned and fluffy that we finished the whole thing.
Excellent pork belly and marinated ribs

The Korean BBQ here was also one of the better ones we had recently. The pork belly pieces were fresh, sweet and not overcooked.

The marinated ribs also were seasoned perfectly – not too sweet or savoury with the right amount of char.

Pork Bone Hangover Soup

If you follow us long enough, you’ll know that gamjatang (pork backbone stew) is one of our favourite Korean dishes.
See our reviews here and here.
Hence, we couldn’t resist when we saw that New Little Korea serves Pork Bone Hangover Soup (Haejangguk 뼈다귀 해장국 – RM35). This really hit the spot – spicy, savoury with lots of greens and pork.

Yes – we’ll be back for more. RECOMMENDED!
