Pizza Day in Taman Desa
[Non-halal] Pizza Day in Taman Desa is the first outpost of KL’s popular Heritage Pizza, but specialising in Roman-style pizzas and focaccia sandwiches.
If you follow us long enough – you’ll know that Heritage Pizza is one of our favourite spots for pizzas in town (see our post here).
While Pizza Day shares some similarities with Heritage – we were still pleasantly surprised with the Roman-style offerings (rectangular pizzas vs. the ubiquitous Neapolitan pies you see all over KL).
Pizza Day offers Roman-style pizza

The service here is as impeccable as the one in Heritage, with a distinct neighbourhood feel that befits the Taman Desa area.
Pizza Day’s two main offerings are the Roman-style pizzas and panfocaccia – made with 48-hour fermented dough, organic whole wheat flour, premium Italian fior di latte and tomato sauce.

A few of our favourite Heritage pies are represented here such as the Parma 24 Months (RM49) – beautiful silken parma slices on top of bread with rocket leaves, tomato sauce and buffalo mozzarella. The same can also be enjoyed as a panfocaccia (which we did order, read below).
Another favourite of ours – Beef Diavola (RM33) – also makes an appearance here.
Aside from pies, Pizza Day also offers pasta of the day, and classic Italian desserts such as Tiramisu, Gelato and Sorbet.
A pizza-panfocaccia degustation for RM78

If you’re feeling adventurous, Pizza Day offers a RM78 “Degustazione” course- which comprises an amuse-bouche, 2 panfocaccia, 3 pizza slices and a dessert. All of the offerings are decided by the chef based on the fresh produce of the day.
Our amuse-bouche came in the form of two bite-size pieces – one parma ham, rocket and mozzarella on bread, and a spreadable salami on bread.

The first pizza slice was the Artichoke Lemon Zest Pizza – a particularly piquant combo to whet the appetite with the zesty lemon hit and earthy artichoke flavour.
This was followed by the first panfocaccia – buffalo mozzarella, cherry balsamic vinegar, and rockets sandwiched in between two slices of bread. A classic combo with top-tier ingredients and focaccia that has the perfect crust with a nice chewy interior.

The Pizza Botanica was a highlight – slices of torched zucchini, eggplant and caramelised on top of crisp Roman crust.

We ended the main course with two classics – a Burrata Nduja Rocket panfocaccia, and a Pizza Magherita. Rustic and delicious as they are meant to be.

No faults with the Tiramisu either.
Pizza Beef Diavola and Parma Panfocaccia
If you prefer to be the master of your own fate, the ala-carte option is also available.

We still enjoyed the Beef Diavola (RM33) pizza here. The beef pepperoni gives that lovely spicy kick and the Roman-style crust has a nice crispy crust and is not as heavy as the Neapolitan style, in our view.

The Parma Panfocaccia (RM37) are two big triangular slices of sandwich packed with parma ham, mozzarella, rocket leaves and tomato sauce that is enough to fill any rumbling tummy.
Conclusion
If you like Heritage Pizza or just want something different than the typical Neapolitan-style pies, you’ll have to check out this spot.
