PJ Khao Man Gai
[Pork-free] Khao Man Gai ข้าวมันไก่ is the Thai version of Hainanese chicken rice.
The Klang Valley has seen a number of new Thai restaurants serving this dish, but we believe PJ Khao Man Gai to be one of the first.

Khao Man Gai is located just a few doors down from its sister restaurant Jatujak Bangkok Street Food.

We’ve eaten at Jatujak numerous times, and recommend the Moo Peng and Basil Chicken dishes.
Given Malaysians’ obsession with chicken rice, it came as no surprise that it would open Khao Man Gai to represent the popular Thai dish.
Chicken rice and more

Nevertheless, Khao Man Gai offers more than just chicken rice.
Open daily from 10am-3pm, you can get the Steamed or Fried Chicken Rice from RM10.90.
They also serve Chicken Porridge and Lava Creamy Egg Rice with Basil Chicken or seafood from RM11.90 onwards.
Steamed and Fried Chicken Rice

For the best of both worlds, we ordered the Steamed and Fried Chicken Rice (RM11.90).
The rice is adequately fragrant and we liked that the fried chicken remained tender and juicy with a good crisp skin.

The highlight had to be the steamed chicken which was sweet and tender. It was served with three condiments – but the speciality has to be the chilli sauce mixed with tauchu (fermented yellow beans).

The Lava Creamy Egg Rice with Basil Chicken (RM11.90) hit the right spot with its creamy omelette served over white rice and topped with basil minced chicken.

The egg was perfectly seasoned and paired well with the savoury and slightly spicy basil chicken.

The Stir-Fry Kangkung (RM9.90) were cooked well as it retained its cruch, with enough garlicky hits.
All in, we enjoyed the dishes here.
