Ramen David, TTDI – Pork-Free Oyster Ramen Worth Trying
[Pork-free, lard-free] Ramen David in TTDI is one of the newest ramen spots in Kuala Lumpur, offering a rare pork-free and lard-free take on Japanese ramen.
Founded by David Chin (of Dave’s Deli and Café Bistrot David), the restaurant brings Osaka-inspired ramen techniques to KL, with carefully engineered bowls featuring house-made noodles, precise broth construction, and creative flavours such as their signature Cream Oyster Ramen.
David and his team travelled to Osaka to study the craft of ramen-making before opening this dedicated ramen bar. The result is a menu of thoughtfully constructed ramen bowls that balance flavour, texture, and technique.

Cream Oyster Ramen – The Signature Bowl

The highlight here is the Cream Oyster Ramen (RM58).
The broth starts with a chicken paitan base blended with oysters and clams to create a rich and creamy texture. It is further enhanced with shio tare and chicken oil. The house-made noodles are cut to a precise 1.4mm thickness, designed to achieve the ideal texture to pair with the broth.

We found the broth well balanced—creamy and savoury without being overly fishy, with a gentle touch of acidity from the lime and edible flowers. It reminded us of the excellent oyster ramen we had in Tokyo (check out our post here).
The Japan-imported oysters were slightly briny for our taste, though oyster lovers will likely appreciate their intensity. The aged sea bream “cha siu” was another highlight—sweet, delicate, and beautifully seared.
Gyokai Tori Chintan – A Lighter Option

Those who prefer a lighter broth can opt for the Gyokai Tori Chintan (RM48).

This bowl features a clear broth made with chicken and seafood—including fish bones, clams, and crab—resulting in a lighter yet flavourful soup. It is topped with smoked chicken chashu and fish “cha siu”.
Desserts to End the Meal

We ended the meal with the Daifuku Tasting Platter (RM10.50), which includes matcha azuki, mango sago, and vanilla daifuku.
The mochi skin was soft and pleasantly chewy, while the sweet fillings made for a satisfying way to end the meal.
