Ramen Oyster and Shell, Tokyo
[Non-halal] Ramen Oyster and Shell らぁ麺 牡蠣と貝 is located in Tsukiji in Tokyo.
While Tsukiji is known for its fish market, this ramen bar is also well known for its rich oyster-based ramen made with the freshest oysters from Hiroshima.
We checked this spot for dinner during our first night in Tokyo and left with happy tummies.
Ramen Oyster and Shell in Tsukiji

This restaurant is relatively easy to access as it is just located just outside the Tsukiji Fish Market, and is a 10-minute walk from the Ginza clock tower.

At 7pm, we didn’t have to wait long for a table. Order is to be made at the machine at the front of the shop.
The popular order here has to be the Rich Oyster Ramen – which promises a rich oyster-based broth topped with chasu, seaweed, bamboo shoot and egg. We opted for the Super Super Deluxe option (JPY1,730 or USD12) which comes with an additional whole fresh oyster!
Rich Oyster Ramen

So was it good? Absolutely yes!

Made with a large amount of Hiroshima oysters, the broth is rich but it did not have that “fishy” oyster taste. This is because the broth is well-balanced with the addition of kombu, bonito and other seafood into the mix. In other words, the oyster flavours were just rich enough but not too intense. A squeeze of lemon juice provides a zesty touch to the ensemble.

No faults about the noodles (thick, chewy), chasu (flavourful, tender) and the egg (jammy).
The additional whole oyster was a highlight – as it was superbly fresh and supple.
Oyster Tsukemen

We also tried the Oyster dipping noodles (JPY1,550) where noodles are dipped into the rich oyster broth. We found the broth to be too rich in this form – and would recommend the ramen for a better experience.

Conclusion
If you’re looking for a unique ramen dish in Tokyo and love oysters – this is a must visit. RECOMMENDED!
