[Halal] Ramadhan Kareem to all our Muslim friends!
This was the last kopek! As our Muslim colleagues begin fasting today – we had our last lunch together last week at Restoran Haslam near Bulatan Pahang in Kuala Lumpur.
The spread here for Nasi Campur Masakan Melayu (Malay mixed rice) is pretty good. As we arrived early at 12.15pm, some of the dishes were piping hot as they had just come out of the kitchen. However, some dishes, such as the Sambal Tumis Ikan Pari (stingray with sambal), were down to their last portions.
Ikan sumbal sambal
For my plate, I ordered the Ikan Cencaru Sumbat Sambal (fish stuffed with sambal), Paku Kerabu (fern in kerabu sauce), a few pieces of tempeh, with a side of sambal kicap and sambal belacan.
The fish was lovely! It was cooked perfectly with delicate flesh, and the accompanying sambal had a good balance of sweetness, saltiness with mild spiciness.
In fact, I find the spiciness level of most dishes here tolerable and accessible – including the two accompanying sambals. The paku kerabu was also done well – it had a nice crunchy texture with tasty gravy.
My plate was quite pricey at RM14.00 – but granted, my fish was pretty sizable.
Friend’s plate with ayam percik above
I also tried my friend’s Ayam Percik – it was tender with kuah percik yang menyelerakan (very satisfying gravy).
Overall, we enjoyed the meal here. Check them out for their the Ramadhan buffet offer.
