Restoran Hup Soon in SS3 PJ

[Non-halal] Restoran Hup Soon in SS3 is a good local kopitiam to get fried rice, yong tau foo and more.

During the day, Restoran Hup Soon operates as a normal kopitiam. A few of the popular stalls here include the ones selling yong tau foo, fried rice, Indian rice and pork noodles.

During the night, the kopitiam mainly serves Western food – which has been a staple for us as we grew up in this neighbourhood.

However, we would like to introduce two stalls here for this post.

Fried rice stall at Restoran Hup Soon in SS3 PJ

Operating for 40 years, this stall serves one dish and one dish only – FRIED RICE!

We grew up eating here and quality has been consistent. It has enough wok hei, rice has good texture with enough seasoning.

Add the fried egg for that decadent creamy yolk. All this for only RM10. The fried rice is served with a side of chilli padi in soy sauce – which does it job well as the acidic, salty hits really elevate the dish.

Pork noodles

We also tried the Pork Noodles here. For RM10, they are very generous with the ingredients. However, we thought that they needed to blanch the meenhoon a bit more — as we could taste the “artificial” taste in the broth.

While this pork noodles stall seem to have a following, we still pledge our allegiance to our favourite pork noodles stall at Restoran Siong Pin just behind (see post here).
