[Halal] Where is the best Rojak and Cendol in PJ? It has to be Rojak & Cendol Mustaffa in Section 17!
Well, the best is absolutely a relative term – but this is certainly Max’s favorite in PJ.
Max has regularly frequented this stall from days of yore – and it had remained consistently good.
Rojak & Cendol Mustaffa in PJ
Rojak & Cendol Mustaffa operates daily from 11 am until 5.30 pm daily.
Mustaffa started as a small stall by the roadside back in the 80s before it expanded and operates out of two food trucks here.
Like most rojak (also known as pasembur) stalls in PJ – there are no tables here for dine-in, but Mustaffa provides plenty of stools to sit and enjoy the meals.
The stall is particularly popular in the PM – but service is relatively quick. We received our orders of cendol and rojak in less than 5 minutes on a hot Saturday afternoon.
Rojak, so sedap!
So, what makes this rojak so good?
Among the rojak he tried in PJ – he found the gravy to have the right balance of nuttiness, sweetness, and savouriness. The gravy is thick and is not spicy.
The variety of fritters here is always crispy, and never too oily or stale (masuk angin). For RM8, the Rojak Telur and Sotong was really worth it as it came with a lot of fresh sotong (cuttlefish) chunks.
Honestly, the portion is really excellent for a full meal with a whole egg and various vegetables (beansprout, jicama, and cucumber) keeping the flavours fresh!
Cendol, oh lala!
The small bowl of Cendol (RM2.50) is also the perfect thirst-quencher and accompaniment to the rojak on a hot day.
For the price, the Cendol comes with lots of green rice flour jelly, red beans, and corn.
Max always favored the Cendol here as it has a good balance of sweetness from the santan and brown sugar (and not cloyingly sweet).
The shaved iced may not be as soft and smooth as Japanese Kakigori – but it does the job!
Summary
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! This is Max’s favourite for years, and it remained consistently good.
Where is your favourite Indian rojak/pasembur?
(This post mainly reflects Max’s view as Ming does not like cendol and Indian rojak).
