San Cun Ban, Taman Gembira
[Non-halal] San Cun Ban 三寸半面粉糕 in Taman Gembira specialises in one dish – mee hoon kueh.
The restaurant serves mee hoo kueh (hand-torn noodles) in either soup or dry. But there’s also thick/thin pan mee and yee mee if you prefer.
San Cun Ban Mee Hoon Kueh

This restaurant is known to always to have a constant queue in front. Nevertheless, the waiting time is not too unbearable and San Cun Ban also offers a comfortable dining area with air-condition.

The Traditional Mee Hoon Kueh Soup (RM11 for small) has a broth that is not too salty or overpowering. We though it could use a bit more salt/dried anchovies – but this was supplemented by flavourful mushroom and minced pork.
The hand-torn noodles had a good chewy texture and we liked that the fried anchovies were served separately to retain crispiness.

As for the Traditional Dry Pan Mee (RM11), we found the soy sauce to be well-balanced (not too salty or sweet), and the thick noodles had a nice al-dente bite.
We added kampung eggs for both dishes – which added a bit of creaminess.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for clean flavours and a good mee hoon kueh texture, this place is worth checking out.
