For great Japanese curry rice, check out Shokudo in Paramount Garden, PJ.
Shokudo’s curry is thick, spicy and full of flavour. The gravy was very satisfying to go with the rice. We ordered ours with Tonkotsu (breaded pork loin) with an added omelette; as well as Buta Yakiniku (stir-fry pork slices).
Japanese curry with buta yakiniku
Prices were RM18 each and RM5 for added omelette. No faults really – the tonkotsu was freshly cooked with a nice crispy batter; we also like that the pork slices for the latter were mostly lean and not too fatty. The rice were also soft and moist.
Tori Tsukune curry udon
Our friend enjoyed her Tori Tsukune Curry Udon (chicken meatballs with curry udon). The meatballs have a similar texture to Ikea’s meatballs while the curry is less thicker than ours and slightly citrus-y – which definitely work better as a soupy udon dish.
This place has been here for many years, and now we know why. Probably one of the better Japanese curry rice in PJ.
