STS 2 Noodles Restaurant

[Non-halal] STS 2 Noodle Restaurant is located in Aman Suria PJ.

This is the second branch of Saam Tiu Sui Noodles 手工板面 in Setapak – hence the acronym STS2. There is also a third branch called STS 3 in Taman Connaught.

STS 2 手工板2 specialises in pan mee.

Aside from the traditional mee hoon kueh, soup and dry pan mee; STS 2 also serves Hakka Pan Mee, Chilli Pan Mee, Tom Yam Pan Mee and Mala Pan Mee.

The noodles are reasonably priced from RM10 per bowl, and there’s also an option to upsize them with more toppings.

Aside from noodles, there’s also roti bakar, half-boiled eggs, wontons and fried sui kow.

Traditional Mee Hoon Kueh and Pan Mee

The Traditional Mee Hoon Kueh (RM10) met expectations.

The soup had a nice savoury base, with lots of ikan bilis and sweetness from sayur manis. The texture of the pulled noodle sheets were actually very uniformed with a good bite and thoroughly cooked.

We liked that it did over-rely on MSG, with enough minced pork and fried shallots for additional flavours.

The same can be said for the Pan Mee Soup (RM10) with the thin noodles. We wished it had more pork slices but this can be added for RM3.

Pan Mee Loh

The Pan Mee Loh (RM12) was quite delicious. The gravy had the perfect creamy consistency which went very well with the thick noodles.

It had the same toppings of sayur manis, minced pork, sliced pork and shallots as the other bowls – but the vinegar is a requisite addition, in our view, for an extra dimension of flavour.

Fried dumplings

Don’t skip on the Fried Dumplings (RM7 for 3 pieces) here. We really enjoyed this a lot as the filling was plump with lots of pork and jicama wrapped in thin skin.

The dumplings are fried to order and arrived hot and crispy.

Summary

We live nearby and were happy to find STS 2 is on Grab. This will be a regular haunt for pan mee from now.
