Top Nine Cafes of 2025
Here are our favourite cafes that we visited in 2025. These are the places we enjoyed for the service, ambiance and food/dessert/coffee.
1. Tang Yuan Fang, Kepong

[Pork-free] There’s good tang yuan — and then there’s amazing tang yuan. This one firmly falls into the latter category, with exceptionally smooth dumplings and indulgent, lava-like fillings. Read our post here.
2. Single Dose Coffee, PJ

[Pork-free] We love the charming vibes at Single Dose Coffee, which sits comfortably in one of PJ’s oldest neighbourhoods. The coffee is consistently good, and the dessert selection is equally enjoyable. Check out the IG post here.
3. Nely’s Passion Heart, Penang

[Pork-free] Tucked away in a quiet alley in Georgetown, Nely’s Passion Heart offers a comforting slice of nostalgia with its homely setting and traditional bakes. Expect classics like marble butter cake and banana loaf, alongside unique creations such as Cempedak Crumble, Onde-Onde Cake, and Durian Mudpie. The Cempedak Crumble is our standout favourite. 4. Benkoff, Bangkok

Benkoff is a small and charming café in Bangkok, made even more endearing by its two resident dachshunds. The coffee and banana muffins were lovely. Visit around 2pm to meet the doggies in person, and don’t miss the cute merch to take home. Check out our post here.
5. Akira Coffee, Seoul

Akira Coffee feels like a slice of Studio Ghibli tucked inside Chinatown, Incheon. The café exudes calm with its Japanese-inspired façade, zen garden, tatami-style private rooms, and a rooftop offering panoramic views of Incheon city. More in this story.
6. Magnificent Park Bakery, PJ

[Pork-free] Named after the residential area it resides in, Magnificent Park Bakery aims to be a neighbourhood staple for freshly baked goods. The wordplay goes beyond its namesake (the English translation of Taman Megah), as French pastry techniques are paired with local flavours in creations like Apam Balik Croissant, Ham Chim Piah, and Pineapple Banana Danish. Check out our post here.
7. Ghostbird Coffee, Seputeh

[Pork-free] Ghostbird Coffee is one of the city’s more acclaimed roasters, offering an excellent range of beans — from single origins for pour-overs to blends crafted for espresso. You’ll also find interesting take-home options, including beans fermented with tapai yeast from Sabah and their Milkyway Classic Blend for a full-bodied cup. Our story here.
8. Air Day Coffee, Seputeh

[Pork-free] Air Day Coffee ticks all the boxes — great coffee, well-executed cakes, attentive service, and a comfortable space. Come for the Dirty Latte and stay for the Hojicha Mille Crêpe. Check out the post here.
9. Hey Yi Dessert, Kepong

[Pork-free] We love seeing traditional Chinese desserts gain popularity again, and Hey Yi is one of the more reliable spots around. Expect a wide selection of tong sui at wallet-friendly prices. The Kepong’Gi branch is a particular favourite. Read more here.
