“One of the pioneers,
of third-wave coffee in town –
steadfast through it all.”
– a TKM haiku
[Halal ingredients] One of the first cafes to emerge with the third wave coffee movement in Malaysia, VCR remained consistent in both its coffee and food offering.
In fact, we’ve been here so many times over the years – the quality of food and service had never wavered. We enjoyed our meals during our recent visit.
Pennsylvannia’s Soul
Our colleague’s craving for chicken waffle was utterly satisfied by the Pennsylvania’s Soul (RM25).
I mean – fried chicken and waffles are hard to mess up. But what sets VCR’s offering apart is the inspired addition of sriracha mayo (love the hint of spice), pomegranate seeds, and chrysanthemum syrup. The fried chicken is also elevated with the addition of habanero butter coat. Good stuff!
They are no slouch in the pasta department either.
Typhoon Shelter
The Typhoon Shelter (RM25) is an upgrade from the usual aglio-olio with the use of crispy garlic and shrimp chilli flakes, and finally topped with soft-shelled prawns.
Smoky Carbonara
The Smoky Carbonara (RM25) is also executed well – al-dente spag topped with perfect yolk, smoked duck, and a generous amount of Parmigiano-Reggiano to satisfy any afi-cheese-ionadoes out there.
Coffee’s always lovely here – and we did enjoy the slice of moist chocolate cake at the end. It’s always a good time here at VCR.
