[Non-halal] Heads up for delicious fish head noods!
We checked out Woo Pin 45 Kamunting in town a few months ago (back when we were still allowed to go out). If the name’s familiar, that’s because it is an offshoot of the popular Woo Pin Fish Head in Taman Desa.
However, this branch is decidedly well-adorned as it is also co-owned by the same folks behind Lima Pulo and 8C’s The Central Kitchen. The decor of this 1970s shoplot has a familiar touch – which makes for a very comfortable space to dine-in (when it is allowed).
However, we can’t compare this with the OG branch in Taman Desa as we haven’t been there in years.
Fried Grouper Noodles
We ordered the Fried Grouper Noodles (RM19.50) and Fried Fish Fillet Noodles (RM14.50) with mi xian.
The broth was quite tasty, albeit on a lighter side as we prefer ours with a stronger tang. It was naturally sweet, with a hint of sourness from the tomatoes and savoury hit from the pickled veggies. They were pretty generous with the ingredients too, and the mi xian was firm with a good bite.
We enjoyed the fried grouper and fillet as they were fresh and perfectly fried.
Fried fish fillet noodles
The Fried Beancurd (RM8.90) side dish was also crispy and not greasy.
We find this a good option for those who work in Kuala Lumpur and would like a comfortable yet affordable place to have fish head noodles. Do check them out for pick-up and delivery options. Stay safe everyone!
