Xin Teochew Seafood Porridge & Noodles
[Non-halal] There’s a new spot in Aman Suria for Teochew-style seafood noodles and porridge.
Opened in 2024, Xin Teochew Seafood Porridge & Noodle offers a variety of fresh seafood flown from Sabah to go with your noodles and porridge.
Xin Teochew Seafood Porridge & Noodles in Aman Suria

Xin Teochew Seafood Porridge & Noodles is located in the Sunway Mas Commercial Centre in Petaling Jaya.

As the name implies, Xin specialises in clear noodle soup topped with a variety of seafood – such as Spanish mackerel, grouper, snapper, clams, oysters and sea prawns.

As the seafood is delivered here on the whole, customers have the option to add fish “offals” as well such as liver, stomach and maw.
Like most Teochew-style fish noodle spots, these seafood are displayed at the cooking station, where customers can pick their choice of seafood.
Come for the seafood…

We ordered a bowl of Mix Seafood Special (RM27) which comprises noodles topped with slices of Spanish Mackerel, prawns and cuttlefish, and Sliced Garoupa Noodle Soup (RM24).

Let’s address the most important point – yes, the seafood are fresh and sweet. They are cooked to yield the best texture. In particular, the prawns were succulent, and the cuttlefish was already seasoned with just enough salt to eat on its own.
The soup is presented on the “lighter” side with the usual seaweed for flavours, but this is where the condiments come in.
… and stay for the condiments

The self-serve condiment station is where the party’s at to elevate your bowl of noodles.
Apart from the usual chilli flakes, sambal belacan (two types!), and cut chillies, there’s also fried shallots, fried garlic, pickled radish, lime and cilantro to spice up your noodles.
However, the ones that caught our eyes were the 12-year old Shaoxing wine and fish sauce that are imported from Chaozhou (home of the Teochews), China.
A dash of both the wine and fish sauce did wonders to give a bit of zing and zang to our bowl. And the cuttlefish worked best with the chilli sauces.
Poached Baby Octopus and Fried Fish Cake

For side dishes, there’s Poached Baby Octopus (RM20), and Fried Wolf Herring Fish Cake (RM13).
We ordered the latter. While the fish cake was very tasty, we felt it was quite expensive for the portion.
The plate of Baby Octopus at our neighbour’s table looked extremely enticing – so we’ll probably get that the next time we’re here.
