Benne’s SS2
[No alcohol, no lard, pork-free, Muslim-friendly] Benne’s in SS2 offers a unique twist to burgers, and we enjoyed the food here.
In fact, we’ve been here a couple of times.
Instead of the typical brioche bun, Benne’s substitutes it with its home-made pita bun – that works surprisingly well.

It’s soft on the inside, with a nice crunchy shell – which makes for a lighter bite vs. the usual buns.
And the toasted sesame seeds on top add a bit of earthy flavours and texture.
Burgers at Benne’s in SS2

Benne’s burger offerings include The OG Benne’s (RM21) – which features aged Angus beef with shredded lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cheddar cheese and caramelised onion and house-made mayo.

This is its version of a classic burger, and each element worked well together. Except that it’s not too oily or heavy due to the lightness of the buns. The beef is tender, juicy and well-seasoned – and we liked the sharpness of the mature cheddar cheese.

We added RM9 to make it a set, with a side of fries (crunchy and served warm) and drink – which we opted for Yuzu Blush (a refreshing fizzy combo of yuxu and grapefruit) to wash it all down.

Benne’s take on the smash burger is The Smash (RM23). Aside from the seared patty, this version is served with finely sliced red onions and its house-made mustard and thousand island sauce. Also a pleaser, in our books.

The Aglio Olio with Grilled Chicken (RM22) has that homemade quality and was packed with garlicky goodness. But the chicken was a bit dry that day.
Conclusion

A cosy interior and delicious burgers warrant a revisit from us. As should you – if you’re craving burgers in the area.
