Butter & Spice in SS2
[Pork-free] Butter & Spice is a new bakery-café spot in SS2.
An extension of Kona Bakehouse, Butter & Spice now occupies the end-lot that used to be Lobsterman Restaurant.
You’ll find the same pastries here from Kona Bakehouse, but what’s new is the offering of main meals thanks to a spanking new hot kitchen.

Items on the menu include Unagi Bonito Shoyu Garlic Rice Bowl, Beef Ragu Pappardelle, and Truffle Mushroom Tacos.
And yes – there’s also a stone oven spitting out Woodfired Sourdough pizzas here.
Butter & Spice offers pastries
As we already had lunch nearby earlier, we only shared pastries for this visit.
We count Kona’s shiopan as one of the best in town and the one here did not disappoint. The Parmesan Paprika Shiopan (RM6.50) is crispy and chewy in all the right places.
The skin has a nice crisp with a soft chewy centre – and is best enjoyed when served warm. It was also seasoned with enough salt and spices.
The Truffle Cream Cheese Charcoal Croissant (RM12) was also a hit with our group – flaky and buttery in the right way with a good hit of truffle in the cream cheese filling.
We did find the Pistachio Raspberry (RM17) a bit lacking – as we couldn’t taste the pistachio in the mousse-like base.
Summary
The space here is comfortable with plenty of seats and filtered natural light through the glass walls. We’ll return to check out the hot menu (and for more of the delicious shiopan).
