Da Fu Di 大府邸 in Pavilion Damansara Heights
[Non-halal] We recently enjoyed the dim sum selection at Da Fu Di 大府邸 Restaurant.
Located on the upper level of Pavilion Damansara Heights, this Chinese restaurant specialises in traditional HK cuisine. It is currently offering 20% discount for its dim sum menu.
In the lead-up towards the grand opening last year, there were some hullabaloo over its apparent (dis)association to the HK’s famous The Chairman Restaurant.
But we were ignorant then (and frankly) not interested in such polemics – and decided to check out Da Fu Di recently because someone said the dim sum here was good.
And the 20% discount was another pull factor.
Da Fu Di 大府邸 in Pavilion

Da Fu Di means “big mansion” in Chinese. The grandeur came across in the interior, which reminded us some of the more elegant banquet restaurants we visited in Hong Kong.

Think wood trimmings, golden lamps and plush seats that make Da Fu Di a good place to bring clients and family. Which we did, when we brought our mom for Saturday brunch here.

The steamed dim sum prices range from RM13.90 to RM17.90, which are comparable to the ones you get at other popular establishments (think Oriental Group and Tai Thong).
Service was attentive and not obstructive, and the captain was sure to make recommendations from both the dim sum and ala carte menu. For the latter, highlights include the Signature Braised Chicken (RM110 for half bird) and Black Truffle Trio Shrimps Stir-Fried Noodles (RM48).

But we were steadfast and proceeded to just order most items from the dim sum menu (did we mention the 20% discount?).
Siu Mai and Radish Cake

The first port of call in any dim sum order is the siu mai and the Steamed Pork Dumpling with Crab Roe (RM15.90) here did not disappoint.
The correct adjectives apply for these morsels: plump, juicy, and flavourful. The pork was sweet and the prawns were succulent.

We also enjoyed the Pan-Fried Radish Cake with Mushroom & Pork (RM13.90). The radish cake here was packed with radish flavour but what set it apart was the chunks of savoury pork bits and mushroom. And also the touches of char on the edges.
Crispy Rice Noodles with Crispy Shrimp Rolls

But the unanimous favourite on the table was the Crispy Rice Noodles with Crispy Shrimp Rolls (RM16.90).

Think succulent shrimps deep-fried in crispy batter, which are then wrapped in perfectly steamed rice sheets aka cheong fun. The was such a good combo and went extremely well with the peanut dipping sauce.
Crispy Siew Yoke

Our mom, who usually avoid pork belly – was curiously enamoured by the Crispy Roasted Pork (RM38.00) here.

And understandably so as the skin was crackling, with five layers of fat and meat in the cut.
The pork was seasoned with just enough salt and spices – so it paired well with the custard sauce.
Signature Pan-Fried Soup Dumplings

The Signature Pan-Fried Soup Dumplings (RM15.90) are essentially xia long bao with bao skin. The pork filling was juicy but one has to take precaution of squirting soup when biting into these buns.

For carbs, the Century Egg and Salted Lean Pork Congee (RM12.80) does the job, with exceptionally lean but tender cuts of pork instead of the usual minced pork.
Conclusion

Overall, the family enjoyed the food here. The space was not crowded, which makes for a very comfortable brunch yum cha experience.
