Durian, again?

We previously said we only ate durian once a year, but our mom requested another round. This time, we decided to get the Dooran 1+2 Combo from Dooran Dooran.

MSK + D24

For RM150, we got two boxes filled with D24, and one box of Musang King pulps. 

Firstly, we must commend the packaging – the brown containers tied with jute strings were very rustic and eye-catching. 

We also loved it came with a durian-shaped tag, and something which looks like a “condom” packet. Haha, the only thing you find in the latter is “protective gear” for your hands (i.e. gloves), and not for your, err… other “member”.

Makan durian lepas vaksin?

Dooran Dooran promises only freshly harvested fruits from their 30-year-old trees. For the price, we thought the portion was good. Each box contained about 6-7 seeds – about 1.3kg worth of pulps for the whole set. 

It’s a good idea to feast on durian after your vaccination.

Creamy, bittersweet D24

Although not the best we had this season, the fruits were good.

The D24 pulps we received had a stronger bitter taste at the fore before the sweetness kicked in. The pulps were not as creamy and custardy as the D24 XO we had from DurianBB (see our post here). Nevertheless, the pulps were fresh and had the hallmarks of a good D24 – sweet, creamy, and bitter. 

Plump and complex Musang King

As for their Musang King, they were plump and creamy. The bittersweet and complex flavours of Musang King were there – albeit it leaned a bit towards the bitter end. And we loved the small tiny seeds – which means plenty of flesh to savour!

Verdict

Overall, our family enjoyed the fruits. We like that the fruits are only “harvested” when they fall off naturally from the trees. The pulps are delivered within 12 hours thereafter. 

We must commend them for only serving the best fruits – each were at their “ripe” age to consume, and had no defects.

We also like that we were able to choose the delivery day many days in advance. All fruits were harvested from their orchards located all over Malaysia – including Titi, Raub, Pagoh and Asahan.
