[Non-halal] If you like some curry noodles with your siham (i.e. cockles/kerang), it’s gotta be Girl & Mommy Curry Mee.
We first saw this on a fellow foodie’s post – but they had since moved from a food court to their own place in Sg Besi.
The new venue is pretty interesting as it is located amid kedai-kedai besi (steelwork factories) in the industrial area of Sg Besi.
SOP is pretty good as the friendly aunties would ensure everyone checked in and had their temp taken. Tables are also sufficiently spaced from each other.
Curry mee – with less cockles
Priced from RM7-10, the Curry Noodles come with siew yoke, heaps of cockles, pork rind and the usual noodles, tofu pok and taugeh.
I’ve seen people order extra cockles – and the ladies really piled on the mollusks (I counted four big scoops for one order – see video on our Instagram post here).
Aunty piling on the cockles for someone’s order – I counted four big scoops!
First – the siham were fresh. I’m not a super fan of cockles, hence I asked for less – but I did enjoy these because they were plump without any hanyir (soft) texture.
Hello cockles!
Siew yoke with crackling skin Aunty was generous to top up our bowl with more curry
Siew yoke was pretty nice with the skin still crackling. The soup is slightly oily but it had a good balance of spicy, savoury and santan.
They even offered to top up the soup when they saw mine going down.
Beef tendon noodles
The Beef Tendon Noodles, however, were a bit too oily for our liking. It felt like we were just having noodles with oil, soy sauce and lard. The beef tendon/tripe were properly soft and chewy – but it wasn’t good enough to warrant a reorder.
Overall, those who enjoy (a sea of) siham in their curry mee should definitely check this place out. It was nice, but we would likely not come back here on purpose as we have other good curry mee options near our place.
