[Halal] We’re back in da House of Patin KL!
Check out the post of our first visit here.
This time, we tried their Ikan Patin Pais Tempoyak (RM18 seketul).
Eh – what’s the difference between pais and gulai?
Ikan patin pais tempoyak Tender and fresh ikan patin Ikan patin gulai tempoyak
Pais is essentially a cooking process where the fish is marinated with paste, wrapped (usually with banana leaves), and then grilled over fire. This results in a more fragrant and thicker sauce vs. the gulai (curry) route.
And yes! Having tried both the pais and gulai – I now prefer the former. The tempoyak sauce was indeed thicker and more flavourful and the fish was more tender. Either way, both the pais and gulai are excellent here!
Walaupun ikan sangkar, ikan patinnya tak ada rasa hanyir dan segar. Tempoyaknya pun cukup rasa dan wajib dimakan dengan nasi!
(Despite being farmed fishes, the silver catfishes were fresh. The tempoyak sauce was also thick and full of flavours. Eating it with rice is required!).
Daging salai masak lemak Sambal hitam
Besides the tempoyak, I really enjoyed their Daging Salai Masak Lemak (RM15). Sambal Hitam (RM10) is not really my thing – but my colleagues enjoyed them.
The last time we were, we saw the Crown Prince getting his ikan patin fix! So legit la tu! (Now, that’s legit!)
