Mauceri KL
[Pork-free] Mauceri in KLoé Hotel in KL serves fresh pasta and Italian fare made from scratch.
Mauceri is run by chef owner Paolo and wife Yan. Expect slow cooking and dishes created out of labour and love.

With years of experience in London’s top kitchens, Paolo started cooking for Yan when she struggled to find nutritious and fulfilling food during her pregnancy.
Mauceri offers freshly-made pasta and more

Highlights include 100% natural homemade soup and fresh pasta made from Semolina flour imported from Italy that nourishes both the body and soul.
As the duo strives to offer the freshest ingredients possible, the menu here is concise and intentional – spanning from home-baked sourdough to beetroot soup and pici cacio e pepe tossed with only pecorino, yolk, pepper and pasta.

For starters, we enjoyed the Arancini – perfectly cooked rice balls seasoned with cheese and yielding the crunchiest shell. It’s rich but somehow delicate in whole.

Nevertheless, the Sicilian Tomato Salad (RM18) brings a levity to the meal. Tossed with onion, cucumber, oregano with a light dressing of olive oil, it helped to perk up the buds throughout the night.
Pici Cacio e Pepe

The Pici Cacio e Pepe (RM49) is as rustic as Italian pasta goes – cooked simply (and traditionally) with only pecorino cheese, pepper and pasta.
The Tuscan sun is represented in the form of pici pasta. Think hand-rolled thick spaghetti that’s perfect to absorb the richness of the sauce, made viscous with cured yolk, and embellished with a generous grind of pepper.

The Linguine with Clams (RM50) surprised with its buttery, garlicky sauce and paired with homemade pasta and fresh clams.

We ended the night with the Black Pepper Orange Sorbet (RM20) – refreshing with a citrusy tang enhanced with black pepper. The accompanying cardamom cracker was a perfect partner with its buttery base and strong spice hits that reminded us of Indian sweets.
Conclusion
Mauceri still operates as a family affair during our visit – and as such, service was deliberate and personal. We enjoyed all the dishes we tried here and appreciated Yan’s detailed explanation.
