[Muslim-friendly] Our craving for a good Japanese hambagu led us to Mittoappu Wagyu Steakhouse.
Located in TRX, Mittoappu Wagyu Steakhouse is known for its All-you-can-eat halal A5 Wagyu buffet.
However what really caught our attention was the Hamburg lunch set menu.

There are two sets offered here – the 100% A5 Japanese Wagyu Hamburg sets that come with free refills of rice, egg, salad, soup and ice cream.
The hamburg can be ordered in three sizes (120g/160g/200g) and cost RM88/160/138, respectively.
There’s also a cheaper option of hambagu with 25% Wagyu beef mixed with local beef priced at RM38/48/58 for similar patty sizes of 120g/160g/200g. We tried both.
All of the beef served here are certified Halal, with the most premium cut imported from Wakayama, Japan.

The interior here is quite comfortable with three huge counters where the wagyu beef is cooked in front of you.

The beef patties are cooked to medium rare by default, but customers can request for the meat to be cooked to your personal preference.
We ordered 120g of 100% A5 Wagyu cooked to medium rare, and the 25% Wagyu patty cooked to medium.

To be honest, the 100% A5 Wagyu was just marginally sweeter than the 25%. Hence, for the price difference – we think the 25% is more bang for the buck.
Both patties are unseasoned. Hence, it is imperative to eat it with the six dipping sauces on the side.

We would prefer the meat to be slightly seasoned with salt.
Overall, we thought the patties were just OK, as we thought the juiciness and sweetness were somehow lacking.
However, we did enjoy the miso radish soup.
Conclusion

The offer was definitely one of the most enticing in town, but the hambagu just didn’t hit the spot for us.
We still prefer the one at Tama Tama Sumiyaki House (post here).
