MODU KLGCC
[Pork-free] Friends know we’re fans of MODU in TRX (see post here) – so we were quite excited to visit its newly-opened second branch at KLGCC Mall.
Located on the third floor, this branch can seat 120 pax (vs. 100 at TRX) and has a number of private rooms and larger tables. The 5,500 sq ft space also accommodates two kitchen islands. Waiting time is considerably shorter as well – we waited about 30 minutes at 6pm on a Saturday (vs. 1-2 hours at TRX).

MODU has also expanded its menu to offer 13 different Samgyetang flavours, with new options such as Abalone, Nurungji, Truffle and Black Garlic.

Curry Laksa Samgyetang

The specialty dish at this outlet is the Curry Laksa Samgyetang (RM60), which we naturally had to try.
We enjoyed this quite a bit. The curry broth is creamy and rich in rempah and santan, making it comparable to a good bowl of laksa. It’s mildly spicy and pairs very well with the glutinous rice.

We’re tofu fiends, so naturally, we were pleased with the three huge pieces of tofu puff. Some of the original Samgyetang elements remain in the dish, including ginseng, leek, red dates and chestnuts.

As for the Youthful Samgyetang (RM56), known as Collagen Samgyetang at the TRX branch, we’re happy to report that the quality remains consistent. No faults with the Minari Pancake either.
Service here is also excellent. We’ll be back to try the other new flavours – as we await the opening of the Starling Mall branch which is closer to home.
