[Non-halal] Our favourite Pan Mee Soup can be found at Restoran Hock Thai, SS2.
Throughout the years, the pan mee has remained consistently good.
The hand-pulled noodles are always smooth and thin, with a nice bite to it that is not too doughy or chewy. We also find the clear soup to be perfectly balanced with enough umami from the dried anchovies, and sweetness from the sayur manis.
The fried anchovies are also always crunchy, and we find the minced meat to be nicely seasoned – never too salty or heavy-handed on the soy sauce.
Be prepared to wait a bit during busy hours though, as each order is cooked individually (as it should be). We waited 45 minutes for this bowl during lunch hour.
We also tried the Claypot Loh Shi Fun at another stall here. While it’s not outstanding, it was decent and satisfied Max’s craving.
Where’s your favourite spot for pan mee soup and claypot loh shi fun? (Our favourite for the latter used to be Mama Kitchen in TTDI before it closed down many years ago).
