Restoran LFF, OUG
[Non-halal] We love food forever! We’ve been on the steady hunt for good steamed Song fish head dishes, and Restoran LFF 來發發海鮮飯店 in OUG came into our radar a few months back.
Our favourite spots for the dish include Restoran Cai Ji and Chong Brothers (see links below).
We’ve visited Restoran LFF several times since then as we really enjoyed the dishes there. We tried three Song fish head dishes on the menu – and have two as our favourites.
Restoran LFF in OUG

Operating since 1997, Restoran LFF is run by chef-owner Choong and his wife Stephanie. Mr Choong has been working in the F&B industry for more than 35 years before he opened Restoran LFF (Lai Fa Fa) in KL.

This restaurant is located close to the ever-busy Old Klang Road but its location offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life with its open air dining and generous use of plants.
The popular dishes here are indeed the Steamed Song Fish Head.

Steamed Song Fish Head

Max’s favourite here has to be the Steamed Fish Head with Ginger (RM33).

The ginger sauce here is roughly blended for a more “pulpy” texture which was so good and appetising to just eat with rice. The ginger also packs some good heat – which complemented the meaty and fresh flavours of the fish. This is probably one of our favourite versions of the ginger steam fish dish in KL.

Ming’s favourite here is the Steamed Fish Head with Preserved Vegetables (RM33).

While the dish still had soy sauce as its base gravy, the flavours were elevated with the addition of crunchy fried choy poh. The choy poh added a tangy contrast to the sweetness of the gravy.

The Steamed Fish Head with Soy Sauce (RM33) just omits the choy poh, with the same soy sauce base if you prefer cleaner flavours.
Salted Egg Sotong

The Salted Egg Sotong (RM28) is another popular order here and it did not disappoint. The squid was cooked perfectly and coated with just enough salted egg yolk for a savoury bite.

We also enjoyed the Homemade Tofu with Pumpkin Sauce (RM20) and Spinach in Superior Soup here.

For a hearty meal, also check out the Daily Traditional Soup such as Old Cucumber.
Conclusion
Restoran LFF has become a regular haunt for its delicious food, honest prices and friendly service by Madam Stephanie. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
