Soya Soba, Mont Kiara
[Non-halal] Soya Soba 소야소바 offers delicious handmade Korean soba, based on a recipe that’s passed for generations.
Soya Soba has its roots in the mountainous Gangwon province, which is known for its high quality buckwheat.
The wheat is milled and hand-pulled into guksu – not dissimilar to Japanese soba, with its earthy flavours and al-dente bite.

Soya Soba is based on a family recipe that was conceived in Wonju Village with the opening of the first restaurant in 1989. Soya Soba currently has three outlets with the latest in Mont Kiara being the first outpost of the home country.

The soba is best represented in the Pan Soba 판소바 (RM29) – which is cold soba noodles served with a dipping sauce.

However, we opted for the Naeng Soba 냉소바 (RM32) – with the noodles served in a chilled soy-based broth, which is similar to Naengymeon.

This was one of the most refreshing and addictive versions we’ve tried – and perfect for the hot Malaysian weather.
The noodles retained its al-dente bite and earthy flavours in the cold broth, which has a fragranty light soy taste, elevated with grated radish, spring onions, wasabi and seaweed crackers.

The Half Boiled Chicken Soba (RM39) is for those who prefer a hearty and mild-tasting chicken soup, with a huge half chicken to fulfill your protein needs.

If noodles are not your thing, Soya Soba also serves rice bowls with toppings such as tempura, karaage and braised beef. The BibimBap (RM36) is a colourful bowl of veggie goodness, with spicy gochujang to tantalise the taste buds.
Conclusion

Come here for the delicious Korean buckwheat noodles that’s best enjoyed as a cold dish. Probably the best cold noodles we had outside of Seoul.
