[Pork-free] We’re back at T42 for lei cha!
We’re suckers for pretty teapots – and the Lei Cha here is served in one. We loved it! We had ours with brown rice and added fried anchovies (RM20 in total) for more protein. The flavours were superb – the mint-basil soup is less minty than we are used to and is slightly more savoury.
T42 also eschews tofu (a standard for the Hakka dish) for pickled radish and black-eyed beans (yes to more protein!).
We really enjoyed it. The mix of veggies, rice and soup blended well and proved to be a very satisfying and wholesome meal.
On the other hand, Ming found the Bunga Kantan Linguine (RM28) to be disappointing as she expected a stronger bunga kantan taste. Otherwise, it worked well as a marinara. On a positive note, the prawns were fresh and seasoned well.
The cafe’s bright and very comfortable and they serve drinks with Oshandhi rose water as well as coffee. I would say the lei cha is quite comparable to our favourite stall in PJ Old Town.
