Basil Pasta House, Kuchai Lama
[Non-halal] Basil Pasta House is a popular spot in Kuchai Lama for hearty, pork-centric Italian dishes.
The restaurant is known for its extension menu – which covers everything from Pork Bolognese to Lamb Ragout and Forest Mushroom Risotto.
It’s been years since we’ve been here – and we were pleased to find that they still delivered on portion, price and taste.
Pork Bolognese and Vongole

This time, we ordered the Pork Bolognese (RM32.90). The spaghetti was generously coated in a rich pork and bacon ragout, complemented by seasonal vegetables and mushrooms. The sauce was hearty and flavourful, with enough tomato acidity to balance the richness of the pork and bacon.

The Vongole (RM28.90) featured a buttery sauce infused with briny clam flavours. In fact, we think this dish was one of the more buttery ones we’ve tried in town. Both pasta were served al-dente.
Conclusion

Basil Pasta House is a good spot if you’re looking for hearty pasta dishes at reasonable prices. Expect to wait for a table during peak hours.
