Bee Hooi Coffee Shop in Penang
[Non-halal] If you like your Or Chien with big, fresh and plump oysters – you have to check out this stall at Bee Hooi Coffee Shop in Penang.
The Fried Oysters (RM13) here are some of the fattest we’ve eaten. But there’s more to it. The egg part is also not greasy and the starch is just nice – not too much nor too little. Got wok hei summore!
We ordered the smallest portion which is RM13 – which yielded at least twelve of the fattiest oysters we’ve seen!
We arrived for a quick tea at about 5pm on a Sunday. No crowd, no tourists – just locals having tea with most of the stalls operating.
Or Chien and Mua Chee at Bee Hooi Coffee Shop
What we like about this kopitiam is that all the stalls are operated by real uncles and aunties. In fact, most of the patrons here are also uncles and aunties.
We also like the aunty selling the Mua Chee (RM6) here. It had a nice texture and we liked that aunty mixed a bit of salt in the peanut-sugar mix, so it’s not too sweet.
This feels like a real local kopitiam.
