“Inscribed in these lines:
Boundless longevity –
from Qing to beyond.”
– a TKM haiku
During our lunch break last week, we checked out the latest art installation at Kwai Chai Hong.
Themed “Everlasting Beauty”, this newest art installation pays tribute to the Wan Shou Wu Jiang 万寿无疆 porcelain design.
Originating from the Qing dynasty, the four characters are often inscribed on porcelain bowls to signify longevity, and accompanied by intricate patterns and motif.
You’ll find many of such designs on common porcelain rice bowls and ceremonial tea sets – especially popular for wedding tea ceremonies (we used one for our wedding!).
The art installation is open daily to the public from 26 March until 2 May (9am until midnight). Check it out!
